Cambriana – [2012] House of Tolerance

This week’s release found its way to my HDD thanks to the (French) review by @diffuser on this album. As he remarks, Cambriana don’t fail to draw attention to their skills, both technical and songwriterish. A tender melancholy lies on their Indie-Folk/Pop compositions. Like usual, I present two of the ten tracks below.

  • Silence is Sexy – [2007] Everything You Should Know

Silence is Sexy – [2007] Everything You Should Know

Rock-solid indie pop rock. Walls of guitars, neatly arranged by the Dutch band Silence Is Sexy. While the twelve tracks of this release are too similar for my taste, this alone is no reason to not like its outstanding tracks. For me, this album is perfect background music for not-so-quiet moments.

  • Hot Fiction – [2010] Dark Room

Hot Fiction – [2010] Dark Room

Smoky blues rock, straight from the garage. I smell some White Stripes from time to time. All parts are superbly played/sung. From the juicy bass lines up to the adorable lead voice. If you rock, rock on here!

  • RED BELLOWS – [2011] Three.six.five

    RED BELLOWS – [2011] Three.six.five

This release from Vulpiano Records, a netlabel that currently uploads its back catalogue to the Internet Archive, where it showed up in my daily stream of new releases. This EP only has two tracks, why I only present my favourite track here.

  • Arcade Island – [2012] Spring EP

Arcade Island – [2012] Spring EP

Arcade Island is an electronic alternative rock artist. This release reminds me a bit of pandoras.box (review of their album Barriers). Floating guitar chords, soft radio pop beats, sometimes harder, great vocals all make this album a breeze to listen to. It is brought to us by the well-known Clinical Archives. Read on for a…

  • Oneiro – [2010] To The Stars

Oneiro – [2010] To The Stars

Do you know that kind of music that is repetitive, nearly boring but addictive nevertheless? Oneiro follows this recipe and made me an addict. I would classify this release loosely as indie electronica with shoegaze elements. Another way to describe them: the introvert brothers of MGMT. Anyway, their music is addictive background music for calm…

  • Pokett – [2004] Your Picture Here

Pokett – [2004] Your Picture Here

Stephane Garry is the man behind the name Pokett, having released this wonderful 4 track EP on the Sundays in Spring netlabel. It is all about dreamy folk music and ears full of emotional guitar chord carpets. Forget Jack Johnson or Conor Oberst, I like this album much better. It reminds me a bit of…

  • Pandoras.Box – [2009] Barriers

    Pandoras.Box – [2009] Barriers

Excellent indie rock. From Lower Bavaria. Who would have thought?
