Lavoura – [2019] Ayizan

Exotic future jazz fusion with groovy inserts left and right.

This release is exceptional in that it differs quite a bit from the typical roster one would expect to find in netlabel Bump Foot’s roster. Artem Bemba – [2019] Harvest

What a calm, folky indie rock – from Ukraine. Almost cheesy in its country-esque lines.

Derek Nigell – [2017] Heartbeat of the Universe

Spacetime drones. Long-stretched synthy soundscapes for late-night orbital flights.

Cardiogram spike above brain above black space backdrop with stars

The album does a great job of catching you mid-thought, making you realise how cool the sounds sound that you were not listening to, and letting you of the hook not a full minute later. Best consumed after sunset, in a darkened room, while you shake off a busy day. Continue reading “Derek Nigell – [2017] Heartbeat of the Universe”

Various Artists – [2017] Music for Sputnik-1 Vol. 1

Oldschool future sounds. Slight similarities with the original Blade Runner soundtrack.

To celebrate the 60th birthday of the first satellite in space, this compilation contains 10 tracks from mostly Russian artists with retro sounds, effects, aiming for space-themed instrumental tracks. Overall, I like the result very much: Continue reading “Various Artists – [2017] Music for Sputnik-1 Vol. 1”
